Smiðjumúr
The project was a collaborative effort between the architecture firm Sei Studio and ceramicist Antonía Bergþórsdóttir. Antonía specializes in Icelandic clay and is based in Berunes, Berufjörður. She worked on establishing a base for the project in Höfn, Hornafjörður, with the goal of connecting with the community and involving locals in the development of a ceramics factory. She has been in contact and collaboration with designer and artist Hanna Dís Whitehead, as well as Ragnheiður Sigurðardóttir Bjarnason, who provided the project with a workshop in the winter 2025, including access to a kiln. The project has received funding from HMS, Askur, Rannís, and Myndstef. The project was a part of Austanátt, an 8-week growth incubator where innovators have the opportunity to connect with entrepreneurs in East Iceland and receive guidance from experienced experts. Antonía receieved 5 months of artist salary to search and research clay 2025.
